FAQ's

What is diamond microdermabrasion?

  • Diamond microdermabrasion is a modern and effective exfoliating method, which uses a diamond-tipped wand to gently remove dead skin cells.

How does the treatment work?

  • Dead skin cells are suctioned off while the negative pressure boosts blood circulation and stimulates cell regeneration. Skin is freed of excess hardened skin and made receptive for active ingredients. At the same time, impurities caused by clogged pores are reduced by removing the corneum (hardened skin layer). The skin’s appearance becomes finer, the pores smaller and the reproduction of skin cells are stimulated. An immediate firming effect is achieved by the vacuum massage. In combination with a skin treatment at our spa, your skin is provided with moisture and other active ingredients.

How many times should the treatment be repeated? Which zones can be treated?

  • Depending on your skin condition, we recommend repeating diamond microdermabrasion at intervals of 4 to 6 weeks to achieve a consistent result. For problem skin, it makes sense to shorten the intervals to 2 weeks between treatments, until the appearance of your skin has improved significantly.

  • Generally, the treatment can be performed on all areas of the body: the most common treatment zones are the face, neck, décolletage, and back.

Should I opt for the treatment?

  • There are very few cases where diamond microdermabrasion is not recommended. It is generally an ideal treatment for promoting healthy skin and helping it to regenerate. It is particularly recommended for:

    • preparing the skin for mesotherapy

    • blemished or oily skin, or with enlarged pores

    • prevention or counteraction of premature wrinkles

    • treatment of light scarring

What is a Professional Peel?

  • Professionally applied peel solutions exfoliate dead skin cells and help healthy skin cells rise to the surface. These treatments allow deeper layers of fresh and untouched skin to be revealed. The result of monthly treatments can even skin tone, clear acne, improve the appearance of aging skin and make dull complexions glow.

  • Peels are safe for all skin types, and PCA Certified Professionals are trained to identify what treatment combination is safe for each person’s skin in order for patients to reap the greatest benefits. Professional peels are increasingly effective with pre- and post-treatment care, balancing your skin before the peel and nurturing it after the treatment.

PRE- AND POST-TREATMENT

  • Using PCA SKIN’s daily care products in the weeks before your professional treatment is an important step in preparing your skin and ensuring excellent results. Skin that is balanced and healthy will help reduce the risk of complications and typically lead to better treatment results.

  • Equally as important, post-treatment products are designed to be used after a chemical peel or other minimally invasive professional treatments to minimize the potential for uncommon side effects. In preparation for your treatment, your clinician will evaluate your skin to determine the most effective combination of daily care products for you.

DAILY CARE

  • Along with receiving regular treatments from an esthetician, a daily care regimen is critical to achieving and maintaining optimal skin health. Consider the 60:1 analogy: you manage your own skin at least twice a day at home; that’s 60 times in any given month versus a single monthly treatment from a clinician.

  • The basics for a PCA SKIN® daily care regimen include: cleanse, correct, hydrate and protect. While professional treatments are just as important for the health of your skin, doing your part on a daily basis to improve and maintain the results of those treatments is key.

  1. CLEANSE - clears skin of sweat and any environmental debris.

  2. TONE - balances skin and minimizes pores. BEFORE moisturizing, follow these tips:

    • Sunspots: apply treatment before moisturizing

    • Dry Skin: apply a hydrating serum

    • Eyes: pat a small amount of serum/cream gently around the eye area twice a day.

    • Skin Treatments: apply the treatment recommended by your Skincare Professional based on your skin type.

  3. MOISTURIZE - hydrates skin and increases elasticity.

  4. PROTECT - SPF 45-50 protects skin from harmful UVA and UVB rays which cause aging, fine lines/wrinkles, sun spots and skin cancers.

  5. EXFOLIATE - 1-3 times a week (based on skin type); removes dead skin from your skin’s surface and keeps complexion bright.
